The Seraph and Her Wolf: Chapter 3

Miya promised that the force that had come with her would accompany them.

The Elders instructed the able-bodied fighters of their clans to protect the children at all costs. They then boarded the helicopter—the three-bladed aircraft—and it took them to a cruise ship at the borders of the continent.

It took them 24 days to reach the World President's office in Australia. Elder Mart felt more comfortable now that they were far away from the show and ice.

Miya led the six Elders to the meeting hall of a mansion once owned by her family, a few years prior. The family had decided to donate it to the World Council, so it wouldn't just sit and deteriorate over time. Miya then left to welcome the World President who had arrived at the mansion.

A regal man walked in. Miya followed behind him. The Elders now noticed that Miya had emerald green eyes like Elder Zara. She stood tall, an inch or two shorter than Meera, the tallest woman among those who survived and escaped E6. Miya stood at 5 feet 10 or 11 inches. Her build was that of a fighter, which made sense as she was a military officer. She wore a jumpsuit with body armor and had two pistols strapped to her vest, along with daggers in thigh holsters. Her glacial white hair, reminiscent of Elder Maxillius, was styled in a bun. Miya's skin was pale, but her arms had a slight tan from the sun, a product of her hard work.

The man, who also had pale skin, was taller than Michael, who stood at 6 feet 4 inches and was the tallest Seraph. The man's red hair fell in waves to his shoulders, and he wore a black and white three-piece suit with the build of a soldier.

As the World President reached the head of the table, he extended his hand to Elder Mart, who took it. "I am Damian Breeze, the World President. Welcome to our planet. I heard from our aeronautics unit that our satellites had detected ships that didn't belong to our world. I had to send a team to assess the situation and ensure it was safe for us to engage with you." Damian said.

"We thank you for not forcing us to leave. We were forced to flee our planet." Elder Mart replied as he took his seat again.

"Not a problem. Your existence is still unknown to our people. We ask that you remain here for now. Any sudden appearances could cause panic and chaos." Damian explained.

Mart and the other Elders nodded, understanding his point and agreeing to remain in the provided accommodations.

"If you don't mind, may I ask what you are?" Damian inquired.

The Elders smiled at that. For the first time, they were being looked at without fear by people who didn't possess powers like theirs.

They proceeded to explain what they were and how they had come to be. They described their creation and the history that led them to their current situation. Damian and Miya listened intently, gaining a deeper understanding of the Seraphs' plight. They now saw the reason for their escape, and both were relieved that the World Council had already taken steps to prevent the planetary destruction the Seraphs had experienced.

The World Council had invested in scientific research to discover new resources and energies to save their planet, as well as to address the growing environmental crisis caused by decades of toxic waste.

"Please give us a few minutes. We'll return shortly. Feel free to relax here in the meantime. Our chef will prepare some food for you. We're not sure what you eat, but most of it is vegetarian. We do have lamb meat if you prefer." Miya said as Damian stood.

They left the room, and a chef entered with bowls of fruit and vegetable salad, along with various sauces for the Elders to customize their meals. Michael, being the youngest, piled plenty of meat into his bowl and enjoyed the salad, much to the amusement of the other Elders.

Outside, Miya asked Damian, "What should we do?"

"I don't know, Miya. I understand their situation. They need to grow in numbers, but we can't just offer our people up to them." Damian replied.

"You're right. We also need to provide them with a place to stay. You can't leave them in Antarctica. Elder Mart looked completely vulnerable there, especially since his affinity is fire. We know fire and ice don't mix." Miya said.

"True. My family has an island near Australia. The climate there seems to suit all their abilities. Should I ask my family to offer it to them as a gift?" Damian suggested.

"We could do that. But will your grandfather agree? I think he was the one who purchased the island." Miya replied.

Damian sighed. "For now, let's keep them here and ask if they want their people brought here as well." He knew that his grandfather, Jonathan Breeze, would throw a huge fit when he learned about this decision.

When they re-entered, they saw the Elders enjoying the meal. Miya and Damian asked them if they would like their people brought to the mansion.

"May I ask why and how you're allowing us into this mansion, even though it is now owned by the World Presidency?" Mart inquired.

"This mansion is owned by Miya, the current matriarch of House Blaze." Damian answered.

"And you don't take offense to it? She's been ordering people around, and you're the World President?" Elder Meera asked.

"Miya and I are engaged." Damian said with a smile.

"So, your child will be the heir to both your families?" Elder Mart asked.

Miya shook her head. "We lead our families because we inherited the physical traits and abilities that are passed down to those meant to be the heads."

The Elders nodded in understanding.
