The Seraph and Her Wolf: Chapter 2

The ships moved at a speed too fast for humankind to perceive.

They exited their planet's atmosphere within a second and soared beyond their solar system in an hour, activating the engines built for space travel.

A day later, they found themselves beyond their galaxy.

They traveled along the galactic borders, scanning every system for a habitable planet.

When they reached the Milky Way, they conducted yet another scan, expecting a negative result. However, when their radar detected a habitable planet—Earth—their joy knew no bounds.

The elders steered their ships toward Earth.

As they approached, Earth's technology detected the energy signatures of their vessels via the satellites orbiting the planet.

They maneuvered toward Antarctica, where they finally landed.

The Flame Seraphs shivered violently upon stepping out of their ships. Accustomed to molten landscapes, the icy wasteland was unbearable for them.

Sensing their discomfort, the Aqua Seraphs constructed igloos to shield them from the relentless cold.

For a few days, they rested. The children marveled at the sight of fish and sea creatures, witnessing them for the first time in their lives.

Elder Mart, the oldest among them, recalled his past encounters with such creatures on planet E6. He gathered the children and curious adults, recounting tales of how their ancestors once fished and lived off the ocean.

The elders knew they had to remain hidden from Earth's inhabitants. They needed time to grow stronger, to increase their numbers.

They were incapable of reproduction. The only children among them were those they had turned—orphans, abandoned souls, or victims of accidents whom the transformation had saved.

Their rest was interrupted when their sensors detected movement around their camp.

Donning their armor, the warriors emerged from the igloos, leaving the elders and young children sheltered within.

It wasn't that the elders couldn't fight; rather, they were the best protectors for the young, having trained generations in combat and power mastery.

The intruders bore weapons reminiscent of those used during the war that had birthed their kind.

Guns were pointed at them, but no shots were fired. A silent standoff ensued.

Then, a flying machine with rotating blades at its top and tail descended between them.

A woman stepped out and approached them.

"I don't know if you understand me, but I need to talk to your superiors. We mean no harm if you do not harm us." she said.

One of the warriors stepped forward from the defense line. "My name is Aron White. Do you stand by your word that you will not harm our people if we cooperate?" he asked.

"You have my word, Mr. White. I will not allow any of my people to harm yours. I need to speak to your superiors." the woman replied.

Aron studied her for a moment before turning back toward the igloos that housed the children and elders. "They wish to speak with the superiors. They speak our language, so I doubt we will offend them."

The elders nodded and emerged, the children following behind them.

When they reached the gathering, they noted that the Earthians held their ground, their stance defensive but not hostile.

"I am Mart Etheros. I am an Elder of the Council of Seraphs." Mart declared, stepping forward. Meera and Maxillius flanked him, with Zara and Augusta behind them. Michael stood directly behind Mart.

"My name is Miya Blaze. I am the Chief Commanding Officer of the planet's protection force. We mean no harm if you are seeking refuge on our planet. However, if you are here to occupy our lands and wage war, I regret to inform you that we will be forced to eliminate you." Miya stated.

"We seek only refuge. Our planet was dying. We wanted only to survive and allow our children to live," Mart responded.

"May I ask what you are?" Miya inquired.

"We are called Seraphs." Zara answered.

"Fallen Angels?" Miya asked.

"No. Our ancestors were once normal people like you. War demanded superhumans, and a select group of soldiers was transformed into what we are now." Maxillius explained.

"I am sorry." Miya said, understanding what must have happened once the war had ended.

"Your planet—what happened to it?" Miya asked.

"As we said, it was dying. Everything was gone. For the first time in centuries, we have inhaled pure air." Mart said.

"Why was your planet dying?" Miya pressed. "If you can tell us."

"Uncontrolled consumption of natural resources, without any regard for future generations, led to its downfall." Augusta explained.

An officer approached Miya and whispered something into her ear. Miya sighed and turned back to the elders. "The World President has requested a meeting with you. He has assured that his guards will not harm you. Will you come with us?" Miya asked.

"World President?" Aron asked.

"Yes. After two World Wars and five intercontinental conflicts, the United Nations Council decided that all nations would be governed under a single leader—the World President." Miya explained.

The elders deliberated before agreeing to the meeting. They requested that the humans leave their people undisturbed, promising to meet with the World President themselves.
